The center of the old Charité

CITY GUIDE - PLACES

La Vieille Charité, in the heart of the Panier district, was successively a place of welcome for the most deprived, a hospice then social housing. It was in 1961 that the city of Marseille began its renovation. Today it houses several multicultural structures: the Museum of Mediterranean Archeology, the Museum of African, Oceanian and Amerindian Arts (MAAOA), temporary exhibitions and a cinema, Le Miroir.

An emblematic site of Marseille, the Auffes valley is home to a fishing port which seems to have stood still in time. Located on the corniche, between two cliffs, you will enjoy having a drink or sharing a meal with friends or family in the restaurants it houses.
