Olive pomace oil
L extraction l virgin olive oil creates a residue l as olive pomace. This residue is made up of fruit pulp, stone fragments, water and a small amount of residual olive oil. Our olive pomace oil, from the Mediterranean basin, is rich in fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants to nourish and protect the skin.
It can also be used as a multi-purpose household cleaner. It effectively cleans, degreases and removes stains from all surfaces and laundry, even the most delicate.
For home maintenance:
Cleaning walls and ceilings
There's nothing like Marseille Soap for washing and degreasing walls and ceilings. Dilute a handful of soap shavings in a bucket of hot water. Clean with a sponge broom and rinse with clean water.
Iron
Regularly clean a dirty or yellow iron soleplate by rubbing with a piece of dry soap when the soleplate is slightly warm. Wipe with a soft dry cloth or a ball of newspaper to shine the surface.
Mattresses
To keep your mattress fresh and clean, simply rub a washcloth moistened with Marseille Soap over the surfaces to be cleaned. Rinse with clean water and leave to dry all day.
Leather sofa care
Apply Marseille Soap to a moistened, well-wrung washcloth or rag, then lightly massage the leather in circular motions. Dry with a clean cloth. This cleaning will make your leather supple and long-lasting.
Wooden terrace
Regularly rid your terrace of mold, dirt and pollution accumulated over months by washing it down with a brush, a basin of hot water and a handful of diluted soap shavings. This simple, effective cleaning will help maintain your terrace over time.
For linen care :
Recipe for homemade washing powder
Dilute a handful or 40g of shavings in 1L of hot water and stir until a gel is formed, then the lye is ready to use. Store in a suitable bottle, and shake well before each use.
For stubborn stains
Dilute 100g of shavings in 2L of hot water, add 1 cup of baking soda and ½ cup of white vinegar. Let cool and shake well before use.
As a general rule, rub dry stains and shirt collars and cuffs with moistened soap before machine or hand washing.
For tougher stains, follow the same procedure, but leave for a few hours before washing.
Other tips :
Make-up brushes and sponges
Regular washing will rid them of dust particles and make-up residues that have accumulated over time. Gently soap the brushes, without crushing them too much to avoid breaking the bristles. Repeat washing until the water runs clear. Dry them with a dry cloth, then turn them upside down so that the brushes regain their original shape.
Strollers, nursery equipment
Hypoallergenic, Marseille Soap is ideal for caring for childcare equipment such as strollers. Machine-wash removable linens with a detergent made from Marseille Soap shavings. For non-removable bed covers, wash with a sponge dampened with soap. For stubborn, odorous stains, rub with soap and a little baking soda, leave for a few hours to loosen the dirt, then rinse. Leave to air-dry.
Shoes
Scrub your shoes with a soft brush soaked in warm water and Marseille Soap, and leave to air-dry without rinsing.
Keep Marseille Soap
Store Marseille Soap in a shady, dry place. It's a living material, with a complexion and shape that can change over time, depending on exposure to air, humidity and light. It will nevertheless retain all its qualities and effectiveness. Our grandmothers used to leave it to dry for months in their cupboards, so that it would become extra-dry and last longer in use.
